The Amateur

I drove past the target buildings before going home, circling the block several times. I found the mailbox, and dropped an envelope in the slot. The envelope had half a hundred dollar bill, and a note -- meet me at the phone booth by the liquor store at 10:00 tomorrow night.

I then drove across to Oakwood Cemetery, and lifted the stone off of Morris William's plot 27, and retrieved my black bag from the hollow beneath. I removed the .22 pistol and a box of ammo, and put them in my pocket. I replaced the stone, put the gun in the glove compartment, and drove to a liquor store, then home.

At home, I opened the bottle, and set up the bar with clean glasses, poured myself a shot, then went to bed.

I was after midnight before I got to sleep.
